How to Change Spotify Display Name, Username

Spotify is the first choice of many people, when it comes to listening to music. There are plenty of music platforms available, but no one can compete Spotify. On the other side, Spotify has some limitations that can be heartbreaking for you, like you cannot change Spotify Username once it is registered and assign to you. However, if you have made up your mind to change the Spotify username, there are few alternatives, that can help you do so.

While creating a new Spotify account, you can either choose to link the Facebook account to Spotify or use the Email. And if you go with the Facebook account, your Spotify account will display the same name as your Facebook Profile.

Display Name and Username are totally different, you can change the Spotify display name but cannot change the username. So, if you are interested in changing the display name, here’s the way.

Note: The display name cannot be used to login to Spotify account, you’ll have to use the same old username/email to access the Spotify account.

  • Open the Spotify app on your phone.
  • Tap on the Home
  • Go to the Settings.
  • Select Edit Profile.
  • Tap on the display name to change it.
  • Enter the new Spotify display name.
  • Lastly, Save.

While creating Spotify Account, your username is mapped with the username to bifurcate your Spotify playlists from other accounts, hence, Spotify playlist will always be unique, and can’t be used more than once.

Conclusively, there is no way to change Spotify username, once the account is created and the username is allotted to you by Spotify.

Pro Tip to Get New Spotify Username

Still if you want to take a chance and want a new username for the Spotify account, then create a new Spotify account with your desired username and delete the old one. The Spotify support team will transfer all the playlists from the old account to the new one.

But, first, cancel the subscription and close the Spotify account. Then, create New Spotify Account and contact the Spotify Customer Support and let them know that you want to transfer the playlist to a new account.

Note: All the Playlists, Music/Library, and Playlist Followers will be deleted from the old account; in case you don’t want to lose Spotify collection, and then contact the Spotify Support Team within 7 Days of Closing Account, to transfer the playlists.

The next time you create a new Spotify account, make sure to enter the username you want.

Connect Spotify with Facebook Account

When you connect Spotify with Facebook, then your followers and friends on Spotify account will see the name associated with your Facebook Profile. If you want that, then connect Spotify to the Facebook account.

  • Go to the Spotify app.
  • Open Settings.
  • Find the Social category, and go for Facebook.
  • Then, choose Connect to Facebook.
  • Enter the Facebook credentials to start the process.
